„14 – Grown up in 9 Months“ (aka “VIERZEHN – Erwachsen in 9 Monaten”, D 2012, is a cinematic documentary about Steffi, Lisa, Laura, and Fabienne. All four girls became unintentionally pregnant at the age of 14 and decided to have their children.
The documentary was directed by Cornelia Grünberg and produced by Kinderfilm GmbH. It is distributed by Farbfilm-Verleih). The world premiere took place at the Berlinale 2012.
Synopsis: With great openness, the protagonists give an insight into the time of their pregnancy, the birth, and the first time with the child. “Vierzehn” shows their joy, fears, and insecurities, how they try to meet the high demands and sometimes cannot meet them because they are overwhelmed. With the first child, every woman, aged 14 or 34, is thrown into the reality of reconciling the dream of a happy, harmonious family with the demands and requirements of life with a child. The girls do this with a great sense of responsibility, even though they are still very young.
From the first weeks of pregnancy to the birth, the documentary shows how the girls and their environment deal differently with the new situation and how they cope with life with a child. The author and director Cornelia Grünberg was awarded the “Best Artistic Achievement” prize in Potsdam in 2015.
